International migration due to the difference in the cultural and social structure of the country of origin and destination and the different and complex mechanisms of its influence on the social, economic and demographic developments of the destination country is very important. Therefore, social policy making is important to face these consequences and studying the social and economic characteristics of immigrants compare with Iranians is first step. In this regard, the secondary data analysis of the population and housing census in 2016 and Utilization of Health Services Survey in 2015 have been used. The findings showed that young age structure, High number of males compared to females in all age groups, high level of employment rate and the low level of unemployment rate, Low level of educational attainment, very low availability of social security (basic and supplementary insurance) are the most important characteristics of Immigrants in Iran. In general, in the last few decades, Iran has been exposed to forced migration from other countries, especially neighboring countries (Afghanistan and Iraq). The concentration of immigrants in several metropolises of Iran, the increase in the flow and presence of undocumented Afghan immigrants to Iran after returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, the emergence and expansion of the second and third generations of immigrants in Iran are one of the important challenges in the field of international migration management and planning in Iran.
