The most important factor of human development of any society is the people of that society. Because, human are both the goal and the tool of development. This great importance has led the countries of the world and international organizations to pay special attention to human development and identify the factors affecting it. In recent years, we have also seen an increase in public interest in assessing whether the quality of life of people in different societies is improving. What factors affect the quality of life or its speed of development? And can the quality of life be sustainable in the future? It seems that one of the most important and effective indicators for measuring the quality of human life in different societies are the human development index. Considering the importance of evaluating the Human Development Index in the country's development programs and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region of Southwest Asia, as well as economic developments in the region and the world, provide a picture of the Human Development Index among countries in the region In order to plan and make policies to improve this index in the country can be effective. This article tries to examine the status of the Human Development Index in Iran and the countries of Southwest Asia. It should also be noted that due to the change in the formula for calculating the Human Development Index in 2011, this index has been examined for the years 2011 to 2018.
